You are probably wondering who the guy is that makes the shelter box for the DRST (Deluxe Repeating Sparrow Trap).  Let me tell you how I became interested in trapping house sparrows.

I've been providing nest boxes for various native birds since 2012.  House sparrows were always a problem.  The house sparrows initially were a problem for the bluebirds that tried to nest in my yard.  But they also prevented the black-capped chickadees and the great crested flycatchers from nesting.

I'd been using the repeating sparrow trap for years but only caught some of the house sparrows. Once I added the shelter box to the trap, I eliminated all of the house sparrows that were visiting my yard.  It was the first year that the chickadees were able to nest successfully.

For larger cavity nesting birds, I've had a huge problem with European starlings. They would always prevent the flicker woodpeckers from nesting.

Trap them using a a Tomahawk funnel starling trap.
