Sparrow Trap Shelter Box
When trapping house sparrows in a repeating trap, using decoy birds to attract the house sparrows to the trap is very important.
Unfortunately the repeating sparrow trap has no place for the decoy birds to seek shelter and they die within a few days.
That is where the shelter box comes in. The birds can use the shelter box to roost in, avoid inclimate weather, and escape predators.
I came up with the idea for the shelter box because house sparrows often roost in buildings at night. The shelter box is like a small building that they can come and go from.
I started using it in 2019 and I went from catching a handful of house sparrow to catching over 100.
Thank you Jeff. I just ordered a box. I could easily make one, but you deserve credit (and payment) for your innovation, and the useful information you have provided. BTW, I just checked my trap, and this a.m., the hsp's are going for it, after several days of wary behavior. They are very smart. But the temptation of the bird seed finally won them over, apparently.
